When my German Shepard, Lady, died we buried her in my husband’s pet cemetary at his mom’s house. When my kitty Mathew was put to sleep I buried her at home (against city ordances to bury pets at within city limits) and when we move I’m going to bring her with us. She’s in a metal box. I’ve planted a lot of flowers over her and I’m going to make a gravestone with one of those stepping stone kits you buy at craft stores. Another friend of mine got his dog cremated and keeps the dog’s ashes in the house with him.

My daughter is a collector of pets. She has a dog, 3 cats, 2 fire-bellied frogs, 2 rabbits, several fish, and of course 1 pet rock (hehehe). She loves all kinds of animals and now has been asking for 2 small birds. She takes care of them fairly well but I am begining to feel a bit overwhelmed. She is only 7 and she is turning my yard/house into a pet rescue some-thing-or-other. Any helpful advise out there?

What do you do with your pets when your away on vacation? Do you hire a sitter, depend on family, put in a kennel, etc…?

It’s pointless to say They shouldn’t have pets if they can’t afford it, as people need contact with animals. Why should only wealthy people get to have pets? That isn’t fair. It also isn’t fair to the animals if they don’t get the care they need.
